The Soil
Being part of the pre-Alps, the valleys constituting the wine region have been originated by Alpine orogeny about 250.000 years ago and the related soil is predominantly calcareous.
The Climate
Valpolicella has a moderate continental climate which is due the combined effect of the Alps, to get a fresh ventilation from the north and the mitigating incidence of the Padana Plain in the south.
